Code of Conduct

Welcome to our camp! We’re so excited to have you here. Our goal is to create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for everyone. By joining our camp, you’re committing to help make this a great experience for all of us. Please take a moment to review and agree to our Code of Conduct, which we expect everyone to follow during our time on and off the playa.

Respect and Inclusivity

Create a welcoming environment: Treat all camp members with kindness, courtesy, and respect, regardless of their background, identity, or beliefs.

Harassment and discrimination: Harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind (based on gender, race, sexual orientation, ability, etc.) will not be tolerated.

Safety and consent: Always ensure that your actions respect the boundaries and autonomy of others. Enthusiastic consent is required for any physical interaction, including touching, taking photos, or any form of sexual behavior.

Adherence to Burning Man Principles

By being part of our camp, you’re committing to upholding all of Burning Man's 10 Principles. Please make sure you are familiar with them! You are part of something bigger, and we all share responsibility for maintaining the spirit of these principles.

Personal Responsibility

Show up and participate: As a member of our camp, you are expected to fulfill your responsibilities, including work shifts, setup/build, and strike/teardown. Each person plays an important role in creating the experience we all share.

Active listening: Take the time to listen to others. Communication and cooperation are key to a positive camp experience.

Respecting Boundaries

Respect ‘no’ as an answer: If someone says “no” or communicates a boundary, please respect it. There should be no pressure or expectation placed on anyone to do something they’re not comfortable with.

Personal space: Be mindful of others' personal space, both physical and emotional.

Be Kind, Considerate, and Patient

Show empathy and understanding: Approach all situations with kindness and patience. We’re all here to have fun, but we’re also here to take care of one another.

No unsolicited remarks: Refrain from making unsolicited sexual comments or comments about someone’s body. Let's keep the focus on fun, connection, and mutual respect.

Common sense: Use your judgment to create an environment where everyone feels respected and welcome.

Addressing Concerns

If you have an issue with another camper or anything that happens on playa, please bring it to the attention of Liz or Frosty right away. We’re here to help address problems before they become bigger issues.

Whenever possible, please try to use respect and empathy to address concerns directly with the person involved. However, if the situation can’t be resolved in this way, reach out to a Camp Lead for support.

Consequences of Violating the Code of Conduct

We believe in handling issues with care and open communication. However, failure to comply with the expectations outlined in this Code of Conduct will result in appropriate consequences. These can range from a discussion with Camp Leads to help resolve the issue to—in the case of the most severe violations—being asked to leave camp. We reserve the right to take the actions we deem necessary to maintain a safe and respectful environment for everyone.

We’re here to support you, and we hope this code helps to keep our camp safe, fun, and inclusive. If you have any questions or concerns at any time, don’t hesitate to reach out to any of the Camp Leads!

Let’s have an amazing burn!
